Tell me where I'm going wrong PLEASE,

Ok I recieved my screen this morning, I think its the older Xenarc TS, 7" widescreen, I have connected it to my pc and it flickers like hell, the screen is there but scrolling is all wrong and a constant flicker....

That was on a gf4 TI 4200 and tried 640x480 60hz, 800x600, the lot.

Then I tried it on my carputer, which is in the house, and the same happens, screen fades etc, goes white,

Then tried it on my laptop with a mobile ATI chip and got the same, using all resolutions, EXCEPT when I set the screen as a flat panel in the ATI settings it works perfect at 640x480,

So what am I doing wrong with the normal pc's

I also downloaded powerstrip and it just turned my pc black when I clicked on it lol,

Cheers if you can help

Ron

I have mate, It keeps saying unkown mode now, this is on a PAL system but I brought the screen from the US.

Does this matter, it does say PAL on the OSD

I have tried every setting on the display and none work.. what can it be?

are you sending an ntsc signal from your video card? playing pal on a ntsc only lcd won't work.. but a lot of them will show both ntsc and pal

Sound like an out-or-range problem.

Try to find the specs on the older xenarc for supported resolutions @ refresh rate.

It may only support the native resolution. Current spec says: 800 (H) x 480 (V). But, you'll have to find the data sheet for your specific screen if that doesn't work.

Well I live in the UK so I should be pushing out PAL, I dont know how to change the V card to use NTSC, I have tried a legacy ATI Xpert card, PCI under win98 and still does not work the screen just fades to white, I do catch a glimpse of the windows screen,

When you say PAL/NTSC this unit is auto switching, so it should sense if its ntsc or pal? It says pal on the OSD, this is baffleing me, I will have to email quincy who I brought it from as he said it was working fine, I also notice this weird stuff whe it fades, it looks like a game, and says ENTRANCE up the top, is this some kind of burn in or simthing?

ANyone?

btw its a Xenarc 7" 700TSV if thats any help, I'm sure loads of you have them

OK guys sorted, I am on it now basicly you have to let windows determine its own timing settings in the GF 4 control panel, now I am running in 640x480, need to make it a little bigger though

Thanks for the help,
