What Do You Think?

Can I use my Laptop display connected to my video card?

JK JK JK.

I am actually wondering if there is kind of standard with pinouts on laptop displays? I am having a bit of difficulty finding technical data on my LCD screen, It came out of an Inspiron 3500, but im thinking of hanging it off my other laptop. I really have not had much luck.

Its an LG LP-133x2

ALL I NEED IS THE PINOUTS TO THE CONTROLLER... please help

Well,
I seem to be having the same problem here. The best I can remember is that Laptop LCD works differently from conventional PC VGA. However, I believe there should be some controller that may do the magic.

I have even tried tracing 2 battered laptop LCD pins through the supposed chip it connects to on the mainboard to see what connections exist with the external video port.
1. No name:
2. Compaq
No luck still, nut I'll keep searching for clues.
Will inform you as soon as I succeed.
Chao.

You will find that nothing connects directly to the VGA out port.

A laptop type LCD requires a special controller to convert the computer data to something the LCD can use...all that is done on the laptop motherboard.

If you do a search for LCD controllers (here) you will find some companies that sell a device that plugs into your vga port (or a pci card) and connects to your laptop type lcd screen...there is no other way to do it.

I recommend searching on this neat site called Mp3car.com, there is a forum section there, and many people have asked this exact same question hundreds of times before.

hey smartarse, I guess that if you found a display that you knew nothing about that you wouldn't look into it? Do you think it might be at all possible that oneday somebody might stumble across some display that has an analog convertor built in? No. You would just say search the forum or say it can't be done because youv'e read that laptop displays are traditionally digital. What if there are other newbies out there that may have stumbled apon a display that could be a dream for us all? They wouldn't know what they are looking at. So why not ask a few questions and help them out. They might not know how to look up part numbers of a LCD panel. Im sick of people telling others to search when they don't know if there is an answer out there anyway.

Oh yeah, find me somewhere that I can get a controller specifcaly for my LCD panel in the forum. sif.

Now I think what I have put on the thread is some actual information that shows why it can't be done, opposed to people just saying it cant.

BACK IN YOU BOX!

ta.
was aware of all of this. but thanks for posting the link.

I am still looking for an out of the box controller so if you can help me with this id be appreciative.

I did find one. But It was a P/N in a pdf for another complete display unit(using LP-133x2). Unfortunatley I can't find reference to the display or the internal controller board yet. (still looking

Oh yerr, my question still stands, why are is there two tracks which do not go anywhere? I am still only assuming that the table above is correct for my display (I cant read chinese). maybe it isn't. It does seem like the pinouts suit the cable (note the earth and power pinouts along with the track size). But still why arn't pin 3-4 connected? I do not know..... more research....
