second setup(mock) would be a pimp install, since nobody else has anything like that, but I think it takes up too much space. so if space isnt an issue for you, all i can say - go for it!

In Dash
You should put it in the dash. You do not want to give up all that extra space.
It looks like 1.75 * DIN, not 1.5 * DIN. I think you have enough room to squeeze it in. Just go to a junk yard and get a second dash plate to work on.

I would change the colour scheme on the console if you go for it.
As skassama says, build a smaller console under the CC, the mock you've done is way toooo big.
also getting a dup dash plate is a good idea, that's what I want to do before I start hacking away my dash.

ya, i need to go get another front bezel down at the junk yard although the one i already have is kina crappy. here is my idea for the climate controls. i wanted to control them via stepper motors/servos. i would have a digital control on my computer, and the motor or servo would turn the knob to the position that i set it on on the computer. if im going to put a computer in my car, i want to integrate it into my car as much as possible. also, i kina like the console a little higher, cause my arm rest's right on it, and the screen is up closer to my eyes. space isn't really an issue for me. im still definitely thinking about it, just want the board's opinion. thanks -Ryan

I've read on this forum for a long time now, and this is my first post.
Here's an idea for you:

Similar vehicle, you could just modify it to house an LCD screen.

I have done both and like the monitor in the dash a bit better. Althought after looking at your mockup I am getting ideas for version 3
My 1st setup I installed a Expy. Console in my F150 and placed the computer and screen in the new center console. I was never able to get the angles the way I wanted.

So I moved my AC controls to the center console and mounted the screen in the dash. I still need to fininsh the fiberglass on the dash bezel, but it is there and working.

Keep us up to date. I am always looking for new ideas for my Truck .
Let me know if you have any questions.
Jeremy

jeremy, did you have to extend the vacuum lines on your a/c controls when you moved them down?

I am not sure, I had the shop that installed my alarm move them down into the hole in the console I cut for the 1st LCD. I thought they would have too extend them (That is why I asked them to do it), but it did not look like they had too.

Be careful. I was just told by Dave at dscustoms that attaching your screen to your dash will void your warranty. I thought the only thing that would do that is opening the case. It seems that these things are so fragile that probably just looking at it crosseyed will void your warranty.
Good luck.

dave... can i get some input on this? well i guess almost everyone on here has voided their warranty...at least the people with the sweet installs. sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do. i lifted my truck, im sure that voided the warranty. -Ryan
