If you can notice the difference between dvi and regular vga while you're in the car, you don't need to be driving, because you are obviously staring too hard at the damn screen...

No... I agree with divadiow. Don't be selfish. You have passengers too. Besides, DVI would mean smaller monitor cable, and would also take some of the blur out. I think that would be awsome.

I'm thinking about going with DVI. It's a long run from the trunk to the console. I figure If I'm going to spend a lot on a nice VGA display, I want the best quality feed.

The display I am looking at is an 8.5" LCD made by Apollo displays. They have various types of "converter boards" that go from different types of inputs (vga, dvi, svideo, etc) to raw lcd digital.

I bought the low-end ATI card that people typically use to drive lcd's at wierd resolutions using PowerStrip. This model has both a DVI and vga output. If I ever decide to put two displays in the car, then I can run multimon.

I stand by my opionion, but I do see where it might have a slight advantage on the larger (greater than 7") displays.

My system will have DVI and VGA. The program I'm writing is for a 3 monitor system. My main multimedia screen will be DVI, but there is no need for DVI on the other screens. VGA will be for my GPS/OBD system and my Firebird Embolym on the back of my car. I know that seems like a waste, but it will be programmed to have an animated firebird symbol on fire, and when I want to display "Win/Lose" messages, I can.
