LVDS for TFT

Check this out!!!

(MMMMM....P4! - Drools over the power.........., sweats over the heat...........)

My question is about LVDS for a connection to a TFT monitor.
This says that it has the connector, does that mean that it has the controller built in, or is this just similar to a DVI connector, where you still need a controller board??
I am asking because this board looks great, even has a 40 pin ide slot for slim drives, COOL

So, I guess my question is, will this board eliminate the need for a controller board, and if so, which screens will work with it? If not, what is the advantages/disadvantages of LVDS vs VGA on the same board????

I looked in the forum, but didn't find a real answer to my question

Thanks
Ryan

LOW-VOLTAGE DIFFERENTIAL SIGNALING

The data getting sent to the lcd (upto 38 bits from memory) gets converted to 1 (or more) chanels of sierial data and gets sent using lvds (a way of reducing emi).

Basicly it wont work with just any lcd without a controler , but some lcd's come with the controler built in (expensive). Using lvds you CAN have a long cable.

Hope that helps.

Dave.

PS. do a google on lvds , tmds and dvi. (or was it tdms?)
