Toyota Celica 2000-> GT/GTS and LCD

Hello.
Someone who has 2000+ Celica GT or GTS who has installed a LCD?
I am interesting in those who are made some modifications to Center Console for fast mount of LCD like Lilliput.

If you guys has In-dash LCD I want to get contact too. I am very close to order an VGA LCD and I don't know whitch solution is best in Celica.

Thx

I have tried two different screens so far and I am currently comtemplating going for a Lilliput VGA install.

PIccies below are thumbnails so if you want to see the larger versions they are here http://www.celica-club.co.uk/cgi-bin...at=561&thumb=1

The 1st was a 5.6inch screen behind the JDM console.

The 2nd you can just about see in this piccy is a manual flip out TM702.

I am hoping that if I do go for the Lilliput that I can somehow reuse the manual flip out part and then mount the TM-702 in the boot install (The 15in screen's a bit big for the boot install)

Failing that is gonna be a FG job like this.

I have a TM-701L now, but I need a VGA.
So I am going to buy a Lilliput for DWW.
But my question is:
If you are going to use Lilliput, are you mouting it in the double carCD-slot?
What about CDplayer then?

How are you going to modify your center console?

I have no idea about how to mod my console and therefor if you have good pictures og your soulution I will be very greatfull if I can lokk at them.

I thought about indash VGA, but I mean that if you mount LCD in the dash the car looks more proffesional. It is nothing wrong with indash vga but I just donęt want LCD to stick iutside the dash when I will use it.

Njay, du you have MSN Masennger? maby we can talk there?

Thx
Martin

The best I can offer is the link to the full page scan of the above install.

http://www.celica-club.co.uk/cgi-bin...3perry-005.jpg

Hopefully you can see what one of our club members did, i.e mounted an alpine 7in screen inthe double din hole, fibreglassed the gaps either side before mounting the headunit further up and fibreglassing around that too.

Since its specific to Gen7 celica I'd suggest popping over to www.celica-club.co.uk where you'll get a much wider response and where the member who did the install resides.

I have been trying to get my fellow club members to visit mp3car as they seem to have car pc related Q's which as answered quicker by pointing them here rather than me paraphrasing

I've got a 2001 Celica GT, and have been wanting to mod the center console as well. I found a company here in Austin that claims their main installer is Fishman (Fishman, Fishguy?) trained, which is apparently a big deal. Say's he'll do the custom fiberglassing to get the screen where the double-din stock radio is currently for $500 or so. Sounds pretty good to me, but between a wedding and a new house, I need to wait a bit

NJay, can you buy any of these center consoles built for the LCDs from anybody, or are they all custom jobs? I know that there is/was a 5" screen center console you could get from Japan at one point...

TayTay,
the original piccy of my car has the JDM (Japan Domestic Market) Console in it. They are meant to be for the 5.8in widscreen CRT (can you believe it!!!) that is part of the optional SAT/NAV system. It has a little area for a keypad in front of it the screen which I covered with MDF and alcantara.

Its was part of a group buy here in the UK 18months ago and cost £90 inc. of delivery. The US GB at the same time was selling them for $300 each

The steering wheel is indeed painted. It belongs to one of the club members. In fact the whole car is now repainted in Peugoet Blue including the FG boot install and interior.
