I Got My Lilliput Installed

I just spent the last week and a half building the mount for my new Lilliput screen, and though you guys might like to see it.

The computer is in the trunk, so I ran some cat5 between the LCD and computer, and it carries 12v, Gnd, HD LED, and Power Switch. Up front, there is a relay that turns on power to the LCD and GPS when the PC is on. I planned to add a fan to the screen, but instead I just cut some ventalation holes. One of the switches on the front turns on the PC and the other turns on the LCD. One LED is for power and the other is HD activity.

Here are more pics from start to finish.

Is it really safe to be running 12v through cat 5? I guess it depends on the amperage. But still... Other then that, it looks pretty slick. Are you running Linux on that?

I only push about 20mA @ 12v for the relay, so I am not too worried.

Yes, I am runing a custon linux setup I have been working on. Boot times are around 15-20 sec, but I still need to add some components. I wrote my own map server, gps server, and fron end for my last car computer, so I will be putting those on shortly.

That looks sharp.

BTW, I went to replace the included Lilliput VGA mount with a locking photo-tripod ball mount, and the cheapo plastic thing literally self-destructed.
