DSCUSTOMS / DIGITALWW Please Read (or if you have bought from them) ....

DigitalWW / DCCustoms if you would be kind enough to provide the following information about the Lilliput VGA touch screens you buy direct of Lilliput.

Or anyone who has bought the 7" VGA touch screen from DigitalWW or DSCustoms

1) Do they come in the wrong box? Are they in the box for colour lcd monitor /tv? Box says model no 318GL-70TV & 319GL-70NP on the side.

2) Is the software supplied with the monitors on a mini size 225mb cdr?

3) Do your units have serial numbers on the back?

4) Can you clarify if you are buying the monitors with the touch screen kit kitted or are you installing the touch screen kit yourself?

5) Have you or has anyone who has bought one of their units opened it up and can confirm its a Hitachi panel?

6) Have you or any customers who has bought one of their units seen a faded Jurassic Park on another image during use?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I bought my from the ebay guy, and yes they come in a different box marked as a color tv, yes the software and driver is on a mini disk, I'll have to look about the serial number on back when I get home, it comes with the touchscreen installed, it's a then plastic film type, haven't opened mine yet (didn't want to void warranty), as of yet no faded images during use, was working GREAT up until last night when my touchscreen stopped working. I'm still in research on that.

4) TS is allready installed
5) Dont know
6) There is a weird faded image I see sometimes during power up/down. Is it a jurasic park image...I dont know...It looks more like a medevil cave or something.

Thanks for the reply.

Serial number sticker is on the back of the unit (bottom right). But serial no field blank on Ex-Audio units.

Faded image may not be Jurrasic park. Others have had some asian women image.

does anyone else feel that having to put up with jurassic park/woman images on an allready overpriced LCD is ridiculous?
I paid £299 for a 17" TFT over here, and would send that back in a flash if anything like that happened. So i'm expected to pay £250 for a display under a third of the size and have to put up with a second hand unit that displays video game images on power up??
Seems awfully underhanded to me - these units are not expensive to manufacture

They probably aren't that expensive to manufacture but they are £163 inc touchscreen. The rest is customs/postage etc.

Unfortunately its the size vs the res it can display which puts the price up.

I don't want to sound as if I'm singling you out but your 17in TFT monitor is probably capable of what 1280x1024 max. These 7in VGA widescreens are capable of 800x480 and are less than 1/6 of the screen area (6.1x3.43in vs 13.6x10.2in for your 17in screen) . i.e they use TFT panels that have a smaller dot pitch than a conventional PC TFT screen which IS harder to manufacture. You try finding out how much a 17inch TFT screen that has a panel res of about 1800x1400 costs.

I do agree that what appears to be (woudn't know mine doesn't seem to have any image and the amount of ****ing about I've done with powerstrip its been out of sync a fair few times ) the 2nd hand nature of the panels suck big time, but as I said its probably the cost of the panels that meant they have sought a cheaper source. This is also why I feel the Xenarcs are more expensive as they are no doubt brand new panels.

mn, no i've heard xenarc do the same...

that's true with the dot pitch my 15" also does 1280x1024 so it's not a giant leap - my laptop 15" display does 1600x1200 native - so it's not as if these high res display's are uncommon...

I don't mind paying the price - but these panels are not even new ! fair enough if the end user does not notice, but if it actually affects display performance I cannot see how this can be viewed upon as an even vaguely honest practise.
