Sooo ****ed right now---lillyput--very long.

Well, i just sent off a really long email to Dave about my llillyput screen that just stopped working. I reallly dont have the energy right now to retype all the stuff i said so ill just copy and paste the email in here. I hope dave dosent mind.

"Hi, Dave

The fact that im sending you this email upsets me. My lillyput replacement screen that Ive only had working a few days has just stopped working. It wont even get power. Im not sure whats wrong with it. It was working fine, zero problems then this morning after I drove 40miles to work, I get in the parking lot. I sit there for a few minutes checking my email (company I work for has wi-fi) then the screen went blank. Or rather the backlight turned off cause I could still kind of see the stuff on the screen it just wasn’t lit up. So I turned it off and on and then I saw the infamous Jurassic park image (which btw doesn’t bother me as much as everyone else). So I turned it off and on again, and nothing. It was still getting power at this point. So I turned my car completely off and took the key out so my OPUS could reboot my pc, waited a few min then turned the car back on. The screen was really hot, so I didn’t want to plug it back up just yet. I listened to 2 songs on my regular cdplayer, then attempted to plug the lillyput back up. I plugged it in and I could hear windows making the same as if im plugging in a new usb device. It never previously made this sound when I plugged the screen up. The usb cable for the touch screen is plugged into the same usb slot so it shouldn’t be detecting a new device. But it was making this sound when I unplugged the vga cable and not the usb cable (the usb cable never came unplugged). The screen still isn’t getting power at this point but windows is complaining about something when I plug the screen up. Im not sure what, or even how it knows its plugged up cause the screen wont power on anymore. I don’t know what to do. Im feeling really down about the whole project at this point. Ive spent a whole lot of money (over a grand) getting this thing setup perfectly. But the only problems im having is with the lcd screens. My luck cant be this bad. Im not even doing anything crazy, like trying to power it from a PSU or something like that.

The GAIN screen you originally sent me was fine except for the crappy connector, that proved how bad it was by breaking in a few days. Now the lillyput screen wont work and Im not sure what the problem is with it. These things shouldn’t just break or stop working from normal use. And I treated this one extra careful because of the experience with the GAIN screen. I just don’t know what to do at this point. And I was just posting about how good the screen was. I don’t know, maybe I just got a bad one or something. Im so upset right now. I don’t blame you though, your just trying to run a business, its not yours or my fault when things just break or stop working. This is so frustrating. And I was just starting to have fun, just completed a custom skin for media engine that I stayed up all last night working on and only got to test it in the car for about an hour.

Anyway, Im sorry this is so long, I just have to vent a little. I guess ill have to send you this screen back also. I also take it you don’t have any extra screens in stock either? Do you know round about how long im going to have to wait for another replacement? I don’t want to make the same mistake of sending it back to you next day air for 50bucks. I also have all the cables and stuff that came with the monitor too if you need me to send those back as well. Some of the stuff is still in the plastic like the video cable etc.

Thanks"

At this point, im just really ****ed off. Not at Dave, its not his fault, hes been good on his word everytime. Im ****ed that ive been working on this project for months and the only thing holding me up is the screen and the fact that they keep breaking Im not a gonna give up though. This thing is gonna freaking work, ive put way too much energy (and money) into this allready.

I remember reading somewhere that the Lilliput requires a regulated 12v power supply,, Were you powering it off the Car battery or off of the Opus?

Just a follow up post to let everyone know the status, and for those that are unsure about doing business with Dave.

"I saved a few screens to take care of customers who had the inevitable defects. I’m sorry one ended up with you, seeing as you had prior problems, but I’ll gladly replace it instantly.

Thanks,

Dave"

So ill be back up and running in no time.

the liliputs dont need a regulated power supply, the first part after the connector is a regulator for 12v so its in the screen itself.
