Lilliput install pics '03 Sierra Denali

I got my screen installed last weekend. I haven't hooked up my pc yet, but I do have my stand alone dvd player hooked up and it looks great.

Hopefully have some time this weekend to get the computer installed. I had to relocate the factory cd changer to the glovebox to make this mounting point available. Any advice on how to take a picture of the screen with video displayed and get it to look decent. Turning off the flash helped, but the picture doesn't do any justice to the actual quality of the display.

Nice and clean. Looks like you could pop it out if you wanted to.

Luckily my truck spends most of its night locked inside my garage, but the screen will come out fairly easily. As is the case with the factory stereo in any recent Sierra or Silverado truck. Relatively easy to return the truck to its stock trim if I ever sell it.

Nice install. How did you get the monitor to look like a factory install? I have a 2500hd and I am planning on installing a linux computer in it.
Thanks,
Mark

There was very little actual fabrication for the screen. From the factory the truck had a 6 disc changer in this spot. It also had a thin piece of silver plastic on top of the main piece. I took the piece off and made my own replacement out of 1/4" hardboard or MDF that I bought at Home Depot. Just traced the outline of the screen onto the piece of MDF and cut out hole with a scroll saw. I spent a little time sanding and rounded over the corners with a router. Found some spary paint at WalMart that was a close match to the original and painted it up. The screen was held in place by friction at first, but I eventually got out the hot glue gun to keep it from popping out when I needed to pull the dash apart. Overall, it was a pretty easy install-not nearly as nice as getting the bondo out and molding the monitor in, but it looks good enough for me. Check out this post for a before and after picture on an '03 Tahoe-I think it will be a little closer to what your dash looks like:

Let me know if you have any other questions.

As I am a perfectionist... i would mention that it could use som sanding and spot filling in a few areas if you wanted it to be absoultly perfect.

Don't get me wrong, how it is is great. It was probably a lot less work then using bondo (trust me i know) and it looks just about as good

Cheers
