Difference between XGA and VGA?

I'm just wondering what the difference is between these two..

The difference is one letter, X = V sorry couldn't resist, I'm always the jokester. Actually XGA is "better" and usually more $$$. That's all I REALLY know.

XGA = 1024 x 768 pixels
VGA = 640 x 480 pixels.

A lot of people just call monitors that accept a DB15 connector a "VGA monitor".

I thought it was

VGA = 1024x768
XGA = 1280x1024

???
