Lilliput audio inputs/outputs

I am currently searching for a screen for my car pc, I came across the xenarc units which are very nice but being a student with a small budget you get the idea. Have also looked at some of the other ones but they do not fit my application. I came to two touchscreen units that are within my price range, the Lilliput unit and this other one made by Nessa.

I noticed the Lilliput unit had a nice big volume control on it, although the volume buttons in media engine work fine, for something like that I prefer a nice tactile response that is always in the same posisition.

My planned setup was to use the normal audio inputs (rca's) and then use the headphone out jack to rca's to my amps. (not using a head unit)

My question is the Lilliputs headphone output in true stereo? Seeing that it has only one internal speaker, I was concerned that they just joinde the right and the left into one channel and took the cheap route.

Stereo or not, I would not run my audio through the screen. Audio quality was most likely last priority when desigining it. If you really want to use the volume buttons on the screen, try disconecting them from their circuits and interfacing them with your computers soundcard. Some soundblaster cards, like the live, have provisoins for a hardware pushbutton volume control. I know their some old threds here and some stuff on the internet that talk about hardware volume with soundblaster products.

If your soundcard does not suport hardware volume you can still connect the screen volume buttons to an IR remote, or to buttons on a keyboard depending on how you control your computer.

Another option still would be to use a digitally controlled potentiometer or volume control, but that might be more than your looking to get into.

Okay thanks, I am running a SB Live 5.1 and have since revisied my plan. I found a USB volume control here.

It is a little steep on the price but knobs are nice and easy.
