Lilliput 7" XGA VGA-IN Problems.. Yes i've searched already

I've covered all the topics already started about this subject.. got the list of res's that NJay posted, tried them all.. no luck.

The problem is: No matter what res i select, there is always a flashing Line a few pixels high (2 it looks like) that flashes every few seconds, and the rest of the screen is black. It also looks like the screen itself is almost "pulsing" a bit.

I'm using an X-Micro GF4 Ti4200, with the LCD setup as secondary display using the DVI-out (using DVI->VGA Converter).

I'm running on Windows XP SP1, NVidia Detonators V45.23 (getting a little old i know)

Using powerstrip 3.30 build 364

Yes i have tried with the ports reversed (ie LCD on normal VGA port)
Yes i am only altering the secondary display which is the LCD.

Since i'm in AU and i got this imported from HK, i hooked the 12V rail from my PSU (Antec Solution Series 400W) up to the cigarette lighter adapter. Yes its the 12V rail and not the 5V one Its a dodgy way of running it i know, but for the moment (just testing it etc) its ok.

So does anyone have any ideas why it is doing this? Is my vid-card to blame?

Also, the other two video in's work fine (tested using the output of my xbox and the PC video out).

Oh and on an unrelated topic.. does anyone know if the screen itself can display a 4:3 aspect ratio input without streching it to 16:9? Ie XBOX input?

thanks for your time guys.

Did you check the video refresh rate? Some LCDs don't like refresh rates higher that 60-75Hz.

cut the connector off and wire it direct to the vga cable. the colours are all wrong (even on that wrx page -they no longer line up) on the new ones so youll have to trace them from the vga board itself to the bare wires and then from the other bare wires to the vga connector. mine worked at first then gave a similar flickering with no actual picture -so i redid the connector and its fine now.

yes i checked the refresh rate. i tried from 60-85 with no luck.

I dont feel comfortable cutting off the connector without further input from other forum users as to what the problem is and how i could go about doing some testing to find out if the connector is at fault or not. Thanks for the input though.

you have to look at that wrx site for how the 6 pin vga board goes to the 15 pin d sub vga connector and simply test for continuity (resistance of 0.0 sommet ohms) I cant remember the link but its all over this forum. If there was a dodgy output from your card youd get no signal or out of range or whatever- if its giving that then you are getting some signal to the horiz and vert refreshes (maybe 1 of them is not connected properly.) Certainly test em first as youll kick yourself for cutting it off when you find out its the power supply or lcd itself.

do you get a picture at all with the xbox? id test that -and the lcd with another pc. and do you get a menu still when its flickering-I didnt and it was the H synch and V synch pins not connected properly.

well after initial investigations using the info from that site, all the pins seem to be correctly connected. but i think more testing is in order.

To answer your othe question, yes the XBOX input via one of the RCA (Video 1 & 2) connectors works fantastically. Though the xbox output is in 4:3, and the screen stretches it to 16:9, so thats a tad annoying. Anyone know how to make a xbox use widescreen mode? LOL

Same Problem

I am having the exact same problem with mine. If I connect the Lilliput to my Dell Desktop using the on-board VGA output the Lilliput works fine. Then I connect it to one of my Compaq laptops on the 15 Pin plug and I get the exact same results you get. One of the Laptops I use around the house and the other I cut in half and use for my CarPC. The home laptop was the first to be connected to the Lilliput. It worked at first but then I performed an auto-adjust and I have never seen a screen on the Lilliput from either of the laptops since. It still works great on my Dell. If I connect a standard VGA monitor to my laptops the output works great. I have used the monitor to set the refresh and res. settings to every setting I could on the laptops. (Most overlap with settings displayed with the Dell computer) I have not yet been able to figure this out. I have searched the posts for a solution with no luck. Have you found a solution yet?

CarPc- Compaq Presario 1200 x111 600Mhz AMD K-6(2) Win XP Pro
Trident Cyberblade Video Chipset (4MB Vid. Ram)

Home Laptop - Compaq Presario 2710 US 1000 Mhz P3 Win XP Home
Mobility Radion AGP Video Chipset (8MB Vid. Ram)

Dell Desk Top - Dell GXa 933 P3 Win XP Pro
Intel 82810E (4MB Vid. Ram)

I found something that works for my computers.(See reply above) I've noticed that typical monitor cables are usually missing PIN 9. I've done a little research and only found pinout diagrams for the 15 pin VGA. It is usually listed as "key" or "Not connected". Anyway I pulled the No. 9 Pin from my cable and my problem went away. If anyone knows why this may be please share. You could use an extension VGA cable to test your system. If it works for you also please let me know.

Ok, well i hadnt posted here about this since the last post cause i had forgotted i had started this thread :P

but anyway, i picked my self up a NEC Versa E400 laptop just before christmas, and the LCD works first go, no tweaking off the VGA out of the laptop, but still not off the PC's VGA out, so i was stoked!

Maybe they dont like GeForce's ? has anyone else tried running one of these puppies on a GeForce 4 Ti?

I just hope that the carputer's onboard videocard operates like the laptops.. cause then everything will be sweet.
