Why would you build your own when a couple of nice models are available for purchase?

I am also interested in this.

The reason being I already have a 7" screen and would like to move it to an in-dash setup. I'd like to know the price difference as I might just go with a new unit.

manual

is it completly manual or does it pop out automatically and you just push it up and position. also does the manual one, have touch screen already or do you have to install it. And last question the vga lcd that has a bracket, does it already have touch screen or do you have to install and is it a hitachi or a lilliput.

Armen, for $90 is this just for the housing or the housing and the monitor? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

It clips into place. You press the screen in slightly towards the back of the case and it springs out but only enough to move it out by about an inch. From there you manually pull it out and flip it up to view. It also swivels left and right so you can angle it towards you or the passenger.

cool. well here is my situation. i would like to get the vga lcd screen for 350 from armen. but i am planning to get a pontiac trans-am in the summer. if i get that screen i will mold it into the dash to make it look nice. the problem is the trans-am only has a din and a half slot. so should i spend 350 and make it look nice. or the 650 and get the motorized one

Shipping is about $30-$40 depending on where you are.

I will try to fit one today (if I have time).
