Lilliput Cable Problem

I recently got my hands on a 7" lilliput touchscreen...it all worked perfectly with no problems...

...until now...

Until i could get round to modifying my dash, i had the screen on the stand, at the base of my console...and for security i was unplugging it at night, and taking into my house.

I think i may have bent a pin on the connector while taking it out, and when i try to put it in this morning, i bent one of the pins right down...i tried to straighten it with a pair of tweesers and a magnifying glass, but it was too weak and snapped...arrgghh!

I think i now have 2 options...

1. Cut the 2 ends off the cable, and directly soldier them together.

2. Cut off the one end and soldier it to the board.

Has anyone got any idea's on the best way to fix my problem?

Thanks in advance

Daz

How about replacing the damaged connector with a brand new 9 pin mini-DIN connector ?

You can find the pinout and part # here

I would replace the entire cable with a new VGA cable (and USB) soldered on directly at the board. Make them exactly the right length also. That makes the installation permanent though.

Thanks for the info guys...

Since writing this post i cut the end off and soldered the wires directly to the board as described in the link...(My wires were slightly different colours, so i just soldered the same colour wires to the board that were already there, i.e. Orange to orange)

The touchscreen part is working, but i seem to be getting no (or bad) signal...i can just see a very thin green line across the top of the screen.

The other option i was thinking about is...
I have a VGA to TV conversion cable in the house somewhere, would i keep the same quality picture if i used that connected to the USB type A/V connector that also came with it?

Thanks again
