PC powered Xenarc Screen..

Hey folks. Need some help.

I've done all the reading and the research to know how its done, but something isnt working. I've purchased a few 2 position molex adapters to make all my connections. I know the screen works because when I reconnect it to the transformer it came with then it shows the "Portable Display" title and it works with the PC properly.

When I connect it via the PC power supply the led at the bottom of the screen lights up but it doesnt display anything. I'm using the red(+12) and black(-12) from a molex connector of the power supply. From there it runs into a 2 position molex thats connected with the facory pin connector.

The main is issue is that since I'll be powering this from the PC in the trunk I'll need a cable long enough to reach the trunk. So I'm testing it with a 15ft cable. I have not tested it with a multimeter yet so I dont know if power is dropping towards the LCD screen.

Any suggestions or corrections would be appreciated.

Oh and Happy New Year =)

You should always check things with a multimeter before hooking up your toys. If this were a 5 volt piece and you hooked it up to the yellow wire, you would have an expensive doorstop right now. Take it from someone who has been there - the magic blue smoke comes out.

Yellow is 12 volt.

Yellow and sometimes Orange.

I leanred this while making fan buses for fans. You can run fans at 5 volts to save amp/watt draw. Good for carpcs that need to save power.

Also if you take the 12 volt and ground it witht he 5 volts line you can get 7 volts. But I don't like that method.

Allow me to wipe the egg from my face.. I thought this might have been the problem but I was certain the red was the 12v. Thanks for clearing this up for me guys.
