Unhappy Lilliput from the Hong Kong Guy on E-bay

I've been reading a couple of months, but this is my first question.

I bought a monitor in Dec and today I got a bill for customs. Duty was $7.51, fees for the shipping company (TNT) - $30.00.

Anybody else run into this?

Until now, I've been pretty happy with the transaction - quick and the monitor works well.

Such things happen.
Last September I got a similar bill from UPS for a shipment in Februari. I didn't even recall the actual shipment anymore...

Comp-guy -- I just emailed you...

I hope this doesn't happened to me. I haven't received a custom bill yet..that is weird that you got one cause I bought from the same guy as you comp-guy.

Dutch -- I didnt buy it from the same person as you. Since yours is in Australia...might be different.

You sure it is a custom bill? I thought that they will charge you before you can get your package and not 2 months after. How can someone remember such shipment after 2 months.

i had the same problem with a gain/xenarc shipped from taiwan. When it arrived i had to pay customs fees. Unfortunately, there is not much to do in this sense: i received more than 20 shipments from around the world and for 8 i received a custom fee bill, for the rest no. AfAIK its just a matter of luck. Sometimes they do sometimes no.
Regarding the shipping costs usually this is agreed before between the seller and the buyer.......of course, but i had once a problem with an express courier which billed me the shipping costs twice. soooo i always make sure 1) i pay goods and shipping costs (if any) before otherwise i get frustrated after!!!

You complain!!!
In France we get hit with 30% custom and sales tax of the price with transport and the carrier charges 10 to 20 euro for the paperwork to cash in the tax!!!!!
