OEM character LCD

I was wondering if it is possible to use the OEM character LCD in the UK Vauxhalls. I know that there are a few aftermarket head units that interface with them but you have to buy a separate adapter.

I have seen posts on the other character LCD displays.

Anybody had any experience with this or now how it can be done?

have & but havent found anyhting.

Thanks

Mik

Been wanting to do this for ages. Think it is a I2C interface or similar, was planning on building a PIC to spy on it and then work out how to drive it, but just never got round to it yet.

Have also searched and found nothing.

When I get time going to scrap yard and take one out to have a play with, don’t know much about electronics but think it is worth the time to see if there is a chip on the board that I can search on the internet form to find a driver or something.

This might be worth a look:

Seems to be I2C as I suspected.
