7" In-Dash XGA digital TFT COLOR LCD

Hey:

What do you guys think of this screen. http://www.mp3playerstore.com/stuff_...ial/IN-720.htm

It looks kind of nice and the price is not to bad…
It is an 800 x 600 but its not VGA so would it be ok of GPS like Streets and Tips. ( I got a screen it's a 7.2" but it is kind of low quality and its not a in-dash thats why I would like a better screen)

Too bad it’s not a Touch screen, and I don’t think its very simple to add a touch screen kit since it’s an in-dash.

But please tell me what you guys think about the monitor.

Thank You

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. Does some one know if it makes much of a difference if the screen is not VGA but is XGA? Don't laptops use XGA screens?

Good find!!

Peace,

Rafster

P.S. By the way, just because it's in-dash does not mean that you can't have it be touchscreen. There are many in-dash touchscreen units available.

EX: Digital WW
Clarion
Clarion#2
Pioneer
You could also try this! 7' Touch Kit

Good screens but they don’t have VGA/XGA inputs and don’t have an output for the mouse.

Would love to have a motorized in-dash touch screen but just can’t find one.

Hey:

Yea the in-dash touchscreen units are very nice but too expensive for me ... I think the Touch Kit is the best way to go.. But I bet its tricky to install it since the screen folds in… although there is got to be a way.

Myst.

PS..

In 1987, IBM introduced the Video Graphics Array (VGA) display system. This has become the accepted minimum standard for PCs. Some VGA monitors are still in use today. The maximum resolution depends on the number of colors displayed. You can choose between 16 colors at 640 x 480, or 256 colors at 320 x 200. All IBM-compatible computers support the VGA standard.

In 1990, IBM intoduced the Extended Graphics Array (XGA) display as a successor to its 8514/A display. A later version, XGA-2 offers 800 x 600 pixel resolution in true color (16 million colors) and 1024 x 768 resolution in 65,536 colors. These two image resolution levels are perhaps the most popular in use today by individuals and small businesses.

I just found this... But this still might not answer the question on what the difference of XGA and VGA performance wise.
I hope someone knows.

I also believe that Laptops Use TFT XGA Display(If this screen was close to the quality of laptop LCD that would be really cool). Any one correct me if I’m wrong.

Thanks

My laptop says it is a UXGA and it's really crisp and viewable from 5degrees from the side.

I would watch out for the brightness on those. It's only rated at 180 nits max. Even the old Xenarc screens that some people were complaining about were at least 200 nits. ~300 nits is MINIMUM that I would use for in car because when the sun hits it if it's not at least that bright you won't be able to see anything. Just my two cents.

a little skeptical of that screen. it only has RCA input so you can't hook it up to a computer using the VGA interface. How can you get that type of resolution of the source of your video(composite in) isn't sending a signal up to par?? The screen may be able to handle that resolution but you just can send anything to it to actually translate into a clear 800X600 image. thats just my take on it.
