how do u hard wire a lcd if it only can with the wall plug in. i will be using a 150 watt opus and the lcd is a ds700yyv.

This sounds like a job for THE INVERTER!

Or better yet, all LCDs use DC power at one point or another. You could hack the case open and determine what voltage it wants, then pull whatever you need from the Opus to feed it direct...

if i had the cigarette lighter cord, could i just cut the end off and splice into some power that way?

That wouldn't be advisable, since the LCD may not need a full 12v volts, plus, your car likely provides closer to 14v up that lighter cord. Not only that, but the LCD's electronics will need to have its power regulated, lest you run the risk of burning it out when it takes a surge/dropout. Your best bet is to first determine what voltage the LCD needs internally (what its internal converter supplies) and then find a way to get that voltage from your Opus power supply instead.

The only way I know of to power an LCD from the cigarette lighter is if the LCD can plug into a wall outlet. Then you plug in a DC-AC inverter into the lighter socket, then plug the LCD into the inverter. It's not perfectly regulated, but since the inverter supplies AC (house outlet) power, it won't matter as much.

Otherwise, determine DC power required, and get the power from one of the Opus' lines instead.
