Is the lilliput the best option?

http://www.digitalww.com/VGA_TM_710VG.htm

I need a bright 7" TFT touch screen that will show quality display output. At 400nits I think this fits the bill right?

I own one! I love it. There are a lot of people here on the board who own one. I think it is great bang for your buck.

I love my Lilliput as well. Great display. If you want one, you should get in on the group buy and save like $100. http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...threadid=22850

I've heard Lilliputs can be unreliable and that Xenarcs are the way to go. Its really hard to tell which is the best. On DigitalWW they say the Lilliput is 400nits and Xenarc says their is 400nits w/o the touchscreen and 280 w/ it. This makes me wonder if the Lilliput is really ~280nits as well and nobody bothered to correct it.

I do know however Xenarc for ~200 can put an anti-glare coating on your screen which they claim will increase visibility by 80%.

Anybody have a better answer on Lilliput vs Xenarc?

Or maybe to better qualify the debate, does one have a better touchscreen than the other?

I like my Xenarc...
I was in a strong debate between Xenarc and Lilliput.....

Here's the way I see it.
I paid more... but I have much greater peace of mind knowing that I have a quality piece of equipment..

I spend $430 once, not spend 250 now, then 6 mo later spend 250 again.... too much hassle.

The Xenarc is nice. The auto-scale works great in syncing to normal resolutions. DVD playback is beautiful. There are no Jurassic Park images. There are Zero dead pixels. I love it! Can't wait to install it.

I have a love hate relationsip with my xenarc. I love it's quality, but I have one of the newer ones that can't do 848x480 right, so I had to install pstrip for that. Also, mine's now dead. The warrenty goes until i think november of this year, but since I had to open it up for my seamless install I don't think I can go the warrenty route. The techs are super helpful at xenarc though, and I'm waiting for a damned little inductor jimmy is sending that will hopefully fix my problems. 400 is a lot man. A LOT. getting 2 for about the same price seems like a luxury I would have taken advantage of. Plus, I think the xenarcs draw more power than they have listed, for some reason the monitor kept burning out my car's 15 amp fuses. still a good monitor though.

I owned Xernarc, lilliput 618 model and now 619 model.
First compare xernarc to lilliput 618 , it is dull. Lilliput is brighter which I like. I heard people complaint that it is too bright, I don't know why they complaint about it when you can lower the brightness. Compare the picture quality, still lilliput 618 won. For problemless, xernarc won. Problem like loose wire or cable inside the lilliput is common but no big deal if you fix it.

I bought the 619 model which I was told less problem with the 618. For some reason, the picture is abit better then my old 618, maybe I use it for sometime now then backlight getting old. so far no problem with 619 model, converting to indash soon.

I am thinking about ordering a 619 thru group buy. I am wondering what is the native resolution of that LCD? they (on the GB thread) are saying it's 1024x768 but that is not 16:9. it makes no sense.

could you shed some light?
thanks!

I thought the group buy is 618 model not 619. I bought my 619 model from Cartft.com. The price is the lowest with the fastest shipping ever. Around $280 shipped to USA.

I want to check the "native resolution".
just to be clear, LCD screens have different Native resolutions. that is the number of physical pixels it has and if you use a resolution equal to it, you will get the clearest picture.

eg. most 17" desktop LCD panels will have natvie resolution of 1024x768. use this res and your desktop will look very sharp. any other res will be slightly off and/or grainy..

I guess what I'm asking is, what resolution do find to give you the sharpest picture? does the picture take up the entire screen and is not squished or stretched at all?

thanks!

fluffdot: The 800x600 is a bigger of course, 1024 x 768 is smaller. I try both, I don't see very much different beside smaller or bigger. 1024x768 is smaller which is sometimes very hard for people with no good eyes. It is full screen not squished or stretched.
