EDIT: (14,7cm = 5,7874 inches)
Im planning a mod for my PC, including a LCD (in the drive-bays), and I hear this was the place to come for answers
As i mentioend, the mod is supposed to fit in the bay-drives, and thus i have allmost exactly 14,7cm of (width) space to work with. Personally I'd like to fill that space out as much as possible. (Of course, if I find a perfect monitor thats a bit smaller than this, I can allways just built a mount around it to fill the gaps.) Just to make myself clear, I'm not looking for a portable TV or anything, just the module itself, without any extra frames or functions (atleast I dont care about any such extra functions).
Thats why I've had my eyes on this module:

As you can see from the specs, its just about perfect size-wise, and the price is fair too. The only problems are these:
- Its composite-only input. I hear thats will cause the image to be worse than VGA, but exactly how much worse are we talking about? It would be realy nice to be able to read text on the screen without having to blow up the letters to giant-size. Everything wont be blurry like on a TV because of the composite right?...
- I of course have no idea of the general quality of this LCD module. Has anyone tried it? Theres also another module there, with brackets. It has the same specs and size, but costs a little more. Does anyone know anything about it?
- It lists as having a resolution of 960x234. Thats a weird resolution... what effective resolution will that add up to, and is it enough for a high-quality picture including some (non-superhuge) text? Should I get something that has a higher res?
Finally, feel very very free to suggest LCD modules I could use. Its extremely hard to find some decent ones on the net IMO. The "perfect" module would have vga-input, a high resolution, and be a (reasonably) good text-displayer. Im not expexting to net-surf on it, but it would be nice not to have to make everything giant-sized in order to see anything. Blurry = baaad.
When you make your suggestings, feel free to mention modules slightly larger than what i wrote. Im possibly considering putting an LCD in the bottom on a Lian-Li PC70, wich would give me a bit more room. I dont have the measurements yet unfortunately. I will likely onyl go this route if I cant find something of high enough quality/resolution within the 14,7cm I have tho.
I hope someone out there can help this first-time LCD-modder
