Unfortunately, it's not quite as simple as getting a DBA - I used to have a Doing-Business-As certificate, so I'm somewhat familiar with them.
In order to get quotes and a sales contract, you usually have to forecast how many LCD's you'll expect to sell in a year, and other related red-tape.
In any case, I got a full quote from
www.evisiondisplays.com - they're a company about 20 miles from where I live, and they take LCD panels from AU Optronics and upgrade them with brightness/contrast additions and touch panels.
Part numbers/prices:
LCD panel with Touchscreen EVD084S03-DSCT $428.00
Inverter CXA-K0612-VSL $25.00
Inverter input cable 51021-05-12D $3.00
LCD panel cable DF19G-20S-12D $10.00
USB Touch screen controller N16B-0558-B710 $25.00
T/S cont. USB cable Cable/RTP/USB $20.00
Subtotal $511.00
Tax (GA State) $30.66
Total $541.66
The specs on the LCD are based on this model, I believe:
http://www.auo.com/english/products/...&product_id=23
But with the brightness enhancements + the touchscreen, I believe the brightness would actually be somewhere around 350-400 NITS, with a contrast ratio of about 250-300:1.
I don't have the exact specs, but based on eVision's previous models, it's a good guess.
8.4" diagonal, 1-channel 18-bit LVDS (18-bit color, 262k), 800x600 native resolution, 350-400 NITS, 250-300:1 contrast.
And with the half-assembled LCD interface cable, all I'd have to do is buy the other end's connectors and pins (about $7), solder the pins on the wires, and assemble the motherboard-side connector myself.
Of course, the cable assembly they give you is only 12" long, but I don't think that will be a problem, as the motherboard will be right behind the LCD..
