Xenarc 700TSV in Porsche

I need help deciding where to put a 700TSV in a Porsche 930.
Anyone who has done that?

Tom

By 930, I presume you mean pre-964 turbo. I'm not 100% (from memory) on the console setup, but given the other 911's I've looked at, your choices are limited. Assuming you aren't talking about building a custom housing and grafting it above the gearshift, I'd suggest a gooseneck type of mounting. ---Requires finding an approriate piece of flexible metal (like an older gooseneck lamp). A small flange on either end (home depot/lowes --plumbing dept) and then you have the option to position it where you want and move it out of the way when you don't want it.

Yepp, as my signature says its a '83, and that's the pre 964, IMHO the real 930
I was thinking of mounting it under the headunit/ashtray. I'll keep you posted about the progress.

Hi Tom,
i built it in a 993. The interiour is nearly the same as 930.
Have a look to http://www.cartft.com/workshop/Examples
I think, that is what you want...
Best regards, Oliver

Hi!
Yes that's about it!
Is that centre-console custom made? If it is, do you happen to have any drawings or measures for it?

I REALLY liked that one!

Hey TommieG,

Did you ever get your 700TSV mounted? If not, I can post pictures where I mounted mine in an '81 SC. It might give you some ideas. It turned out pretty nice. If you're done, post some pics... I'd be interested in seeing how you made out.

Hi!
Yes I'm in the middle of mounting it.
I got hold of a 930S center console, and I'm mounting the screen in that. I have to mount it at an angle to be able to see it properly.

You can see a pic in this thread:
http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/general-mp3car-discussion/28706-wohaaa-its-alive.html

I still have left to make a nice lower front plate, but when thats done it's just a "few" hours of sanding/bondoing/painting left. It looks promising, I think.
BTW. Every single part of the PC is mounted in the center console. Makes it very easy to remove (or steal, I guess... ;-( )
I just unplug the cable to the Opus power supply, and out it goes.

Tom

Please post your pics, as I'm very interested to see how you did it.

Hey TommieG

Check it out... I just posted updates to a previous thread...

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show...7&page=2&pp=15

BTW... the project looks great. I almost considered mounting my screen in the exact same area but I though that the shifter might have gotten in the way. I guess not. Anyways, looks great!
