as long as the voltage is above what you are using it for, then it's OK
Just make sure the μf value is correct.

Will the auto-power up work if you have the screen powered thru the cig lighter?

The screen will power up whenever it receives power with this mod.

So if your cigarette lighter is only powered when the car is on, then the screen will turn on when the car turns on. If it is always powered, then the screen will always be powered.

is there any concern of the screen becoming too hot and being damaged if it is closed in the in-dash housing? Since it will be ON all of the time the car is on...

I was worried about that, and I didn't want the power drain either. I installed a normally closed switch at the back of the in-dash housing so the LCD had its power disconnected when it closed.

I just got my lilli and I think I killed it within 2 hours but that's a story for another thread..

I was taking mine out of the case and I'm looking at the controller board.. couldn't I just tape or hot glue the power button down?? It seems to work because I taped it and kept turning on automatically when I plugged the power in... :dunno:

People have said that shorting the power button (keeping it pressed at all times) basically disables all the other buttons on the face but still allows the remote to work for the same functions.
I have not done this, so I can't confirm it... just something some other people noted.

call me stupid.. but I've been wondering....... WHY doess pressing the power button on the screen seem like such a hard thing to do??? why auto-power-on ??? I mean you risk destroying the screen and what do you get ? 2 secondes less downtime ?

Well, some of us don't have access to the buttons anymore.

Well, this is now officially how I got my lilliput to turn on automatically..

I put a metal clip on the button to keep it pressed. no soldering, no resistors..none of that junk ..and the mod is easily reversable I'm not using the buttons on the screen anyways so that's not an issue..
