mine seems to be working fine.. you could probably just tape it down using some strong adhesive.. but that button is pretty stiff so it might unstick eventually..

Woohoo. I thought this was going to be really tricky, but it turned out to be a piece of cake. The mod worked perfectly on the first try.

FYI: Fry's has a 100 pk of 150k ohm resistors for $1.49 vs Radioshacks 12 bucks.

For those yet to do this mod, be sure to get a small capacitor, some of the larger volt ones (50-100 volt) may be too big for the caseing.
That's some tiny tiny soldering too. I don't know how I'm going to keep the solder from spilling over to the other resistors. Any tricks of the trade?
Also, What if you use a non-polarized capacitor? Does it have to be polarized?

Wouldn't you know it, tried to do this after a long stressful day.. When removing the smt resistor, I pulled the + pad off with it.. Arrgh..
To make matters worse, I leant out my multi-meter to a buddy..
Can anyone tell me if the pad directly below the removed resistor is in the same trace? (Yellow arrow)

Ok.. I got my multi-meter back.. Yes that point is in the same trace.
I soldered some Kynar to it, and patched it into the circuit, and all is well.

EASY FIX:
I just got a thin strip of tape and wrapped it around the button and board several times while the button was depressed. This fixated the button in the always on position. Works the same as shorting it.

Nope. I used about a .5 cm wide, 4'' long strip of strong clear tape and just carefully wrapped the button a bunch of times real tight while it was depressed. Now it turns on with the power source. To turn it off press any of the other buttons and it turns off. Atleast I believe they had that effect. I don't use them because my buttons are covered up. To go back to original, I can just take the tape off the button.

Saw two posts asking if this works with the 8" TS. Any one do it yet? Curious to see if anyone responds by tomorrow. Guess I will open mine up tomorrow and compare with the instruction pic. If it is different then I will post a pic and see if anyone can figure things out for me.
