I haven't yet. I'm afraid that I will damage the ribbon cable inside. Then I would be without a screen until I could get another one.

I painted the 8" case, a few months ago, took away the Touchscreen (glare).
It was complete taken apart. No (big) Problem with any ribbon cable, haha... but: The ribbon cable has about 20 pins/males, but the hole has 21 females.
Unbelievable!!! I had to take the cable on one side, and it worked again.
I didnīt see that, when i took it apart.
I could do it in a few days again and take pictures.
Oliver

Oh goodness!

First things first... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

On to the important stuff. I was getting ready to start this mod... reviewing everything I needed to procure, etc... and I looked at my Lilli circuit board (in horror when I realized how GD small those resistors are in real life) when I realized my board is slightly different. There are five resistors on my board (on the right-hand side in the pic below) versus the four in Coyote's original pic. Anyone have any advice? Will this mod work on this circuit board? Has anyone tried it?

All advice is greatly appreciated!

BUMP BUMP!

I too have a new(er) Lili (err, Newision) that has 5 resistors instead of the 4. There also appears to be a resistor to the left of the ribbon cable connector that doesn't appear on the picture of the older Lilis (it's where the cap is sitting on coyote's picture). Any of you highly skilled EEs want to take a stab at which one we should be using for this mod?

Thanks.

Have look on this site, it shows you what pins do what on the button panel. Trace the power button back to the main board, and then follow the track to the resistors, whichever one it goes to is the one you need to connect the capacitor to.

Then using a digital meter, test to find 5V coming out of one of the other resistors, that should be the one to connect the resistor to.

They should not be to far away from the ones in coyotes picture.

NB this is just my opinion from looking at coyotes picture, circuit diagram and the picture you have posted. As with anything like this, if you are not at all sure about what you are doing get someone qualified to do it (might be an idea to print out the pictures here and on that site and take them down to your local electronics shop and see if they have someone who could do it for you).

Oh yeah, I take no responsibility if you attempt to do it and it all goes tits up

My Lilliput does not look like the picture

Hello,

My Lilliput 7" widescreen touchscreen TFT monitor looks different than the picture posted.

It's simmilar but there are 5 resistors on the right side and marking 1R05 not 103...

Can anyone help me with where to land the cap and resistor on my monitor?

Thanks

Coyote Mod for new revision boards.

Pretty much the same as the old boards, the 5th resistor from the left is the power swich pull-up.

My camera really sucks in macro with low light.

For all of you intrested:
I know I am late in this thread but I havea lilliput 7 TS as well. And have read EVERY post on this topic of auto power up. I have found that while I may be capable of this mod, I think it is easier to short the button. However, I want the ability to disable it too. So, I will put a microswitch in the case behind the bottom of the screen. This allows me to turn off the short for ability to use the RCA input without finding the bleedin remote.
Cheers all!

That's the exact same path I took after reading some more about the problems associated with the mod. I understand it can have adverse effects if the car is shut off for a brief period, then switched on again - the screen doesn't start all the time, for example. So like yourself, I chose the switch method. Pics will be coming eventually - carputer is about 90% complete. The switch method gives more control, IMHO.
