Lilliput Dimming Problem

Hey All,
Got a bit of an issue with my monitor and wanted to sound a few things off you. Initially I was powering the LCD off my Opus, but in addition to the other peripherals (DVD-ROM, USB Hub, USB Soundcard) it seemed to cause a lot of instability in the system, so I spliced into the Car Adapter plug and hard wired it to my cigarette lighter wiring for the switched 12 volt power.

Here is the problem... the brightness tends to fluctuate WAY more than I would care for, I'm sure based upon the varying voltage at the switched wire... If I'm listening to the music loud and the amp is pulling a lot of power for the bass, it is really noticable...

Does it make sense to throw a Farad Cap in-line with the power to the LCD? Would that likely solve the issue? Or maybe something a bit more complex to regulate the voltage? Just looking for ideas... Thanks!

I'm thinking of hooking my Lilliput up the same way as yours - cig adapter thru the "egg-thing" that came with the Lilliput. But I'm curious, does it survive cranking the engine? What happens when you crank?

Sorry, I know that has nothing to do with your question.

Thanks,
Tom

Nope, doesn't survive the crank... you have to turn it back on...
