software which allows for virtual screen area?

I have an lcd which has a resolution of 640x480. But, winxp and some software requires 800x600.

So, what i'd like todo is have my resolution set to 800x600 and only a portion of the display is mapped to my actual monitor at a time. And using mouse gestures or keyboard buttons have the mapped area change.

I've seen software that does this before but i did a quick search and couldn't find it.

Thanks!

Does your lcd not support 800x600?

I'm not sure which software would support what you are asking. The only time your screen would scroll if you moved your mouse around is if you set your resolution higher than what your LCD supported.

i have a pyle 5" lcd. Setting the display resolution to 800x600 makes the lcd unusable.

The software DragonStar recommended was exactly what i was looking for. Thanks!

I'll post how well it works in when i get the system together.

Take a look at Sphere XP (Videos) just for the coolness factor. I'm a little scared to try it myself.

VirtSpace costs $20 and there is no evaluation version to try it out first

Before i consider shelling out $20 does anyone else know of any software that will do this?

Ah, sorry about that. All I did was do a quick google search before going to work and was just wondering if that was what you were after, was the first link I clicked onto :P Anyway, hope you find what you're after!
