16 Feet or longer Video Cable

I've looked at my local stores, but no one seems to carry video cable (monitor) longer than 10 feet. I need at least 16 feet to run from my VGA LCD to the trunk of the car.

Does anyone know of any cheap site?

I'm looking for more options than tigerdirect.com...i'd be interested in finding out whether the rest of us purchase our cables and adaptors from. Thanks

Just hit yahoo shopping (shopping.yahoo.com). I did a quick search for "vga extension cable" and I found a 25' cable for $3.69 with $6.00 shipping to los angeles. Under $10 for a cable, but I don't know how strong the shielding is on it.

Website was http://shop.store.yahoo.com/bigbic/25feetdbmalt.html if you're interested.

Good luck!

bestbuy has some. I have not found any vga cables locally longer then 10 feet. The cable I am currently using for my carputer is from radio shack Catalog #: 26-208. I have a crown vic and the computer is in the trunk and the screen is in the dash. Xenarc (is what i got) comes with 6 feet vga. I have a cheaper 10ft vga cable that was $6 but it was not insulated enough and the screen was really fuzzy. If you are going to use vga extension cables, make sure you look at quality and price.

Where are you located...? The cheapest and fastest way to find the cable is at your local electronics supply shop. Startech has a good selection of high quality cables, and most electronics shops carry them.

these guys make real quality cables, i buy stuff from them all the time for work

this page has 3' up to 200' including a 20' one

In this case I'd stay clear of the "lowest bidder" cable. As the cable gets longer the signal gets atenuated and its more likley to pick up some EMI.

join a few normal cables together.

mind you though that when i hit 12 feet i get screen distortion at boot up, but once the OS loads, it's solid. but you can feel it's pretty much fragile at this lenght surrounded by all the steel and usual car wiring.
