More on wiring the Lilliput

Me and a friend who've recently started our own carpc project have put another wiring scheme online for the Lilliput 619; we tried to make it as newbie friendly as possible (although basic proficiency with a soldering iron is required of course). Since we based part of it on gregmoll's schematic above, we felt it fit to link to our info in this thread, as a way of saying thanks to gregmoll for the fine info, and to expand on the knowledge contained in this thread.

The post can be found here. The VGA part is working perfectly; we haven't had the chance to test the touchscreen yet, but the kernel messages in our preliminary Linux install show it registers itself as a USB device when plugged in, so we're pretty confident it'll work once we install the drivers.

Just so you guys don't have to click on the link to get to the schematics, here's the direct link:

Any feedback is of course appreciated. Have fun, and try not to get your fingers burnt like I did.

Edit: We didn't make step-by-step instructions because it was late after work and I had to hurry a bit in order for my friend to catch his last bus home. We didn't finish in time, and I had to drive him home anyway, but that's beside the point... We'll do this again once my screen arrives though. But this may take a while. After all, we already have one for testing purposes. I'll post a link to the new, step-by-step instructions then and update this post to point to the new one. But for now, I think these instructions should suffice for those even remotely tech-savvy.

Are you talking about the touchscreen calibration where the software puts up an X in each corner for you to touch? If so, I got rid of this by reinstalling the touchscreen software and when setting the option to not go through the calibration each time it was started up. Sorry I don't have any specifics, but you should easily notice the option when you go through the installation. Calibration is still available by entering the software and manually starting it.

Cutting out the 9 pin din connector on a 619

Lilliput has swapped some wires. If you swap out the connector, or cut it out all together, you need to:

Connect Orange to Blue, and Blue to Orange
Connect Brown to Purple, and Purple to Brown
Green and ground are correct
All touch wires are also correct.

Found this ou the hard way when I chopped out my Din connector. Saw the Jurrasic image that I havent seen in quite a while!

Symtoms of my din going out were flaky video and loss of touchscreen.

Replacement IR sensor

found this in another post...

"The IR sensor was a shot in the dark. When disassembling my lilliput
monitor, one of the 3 connecting pins broke off the original sensor.
The guy at Radio Shack said he was 99.8% sure this one would work. He
was right. If you break off your sensor, you can replace it with Radio
Shack Part # 2760640 38MHZ IR Receiver Module. cost was $3.69"

I'll get one this week and try it out.

i have a question, if i power the lilliput (619gl) with an m2 atx psu, do i still have to either program (or solder) the lcd to auto power on?

what does it do if you just plug it in? you have to press the power button?

if you haven't reprogrammed the lilliput to autopower then you need to press the button, whatever way you get it to receive power.

I drive a convertible so direct full on sunlight sucks, Can't see a damn thing, so drive towards the sun. lol. Other than that, it not too bad. As you can see from my skin, the white buttons, they still make their way through, so you can still control things. Also, your hand going over it to touch the screen casting the slight shadow over it helps in the worst of situations. Not ready to fork out the $600 (for just the 7") for a transflective upgrade though... sheeeett.. lol

Native resolution is 800x600 but it works perfectly with 1024x768, though I do run it at the native res.

I did need to extend the cable from the monitor. I'm using 6' usb and vga extensions. Works great. No flickers or any other problems whatsoever. Powered off of a M2ATX. Comes on automatically with the car. The factory codes mentioned in the threads here also work for this monitor. ;-)

So there you have it. A HUGE screen at a decent price and works great. ;-)
