Post Integra and Lilliput

Hi everyone,
I'm planning to buy and install a Lilliput Touchscreen in my '98 Integra TypeR but I'm not sure where. I know I have more than Double DIN space available by removing some useless accessories on my dash, but I think that the position of the display will be too low resulting in bad visibility/accessibility. I thought to build fiberglass support that covers the colck area but seems a long task to complete and I'm unsure about the final result.
Someone has a good advice on this car?
Many thanks

Actually I've no digital camera availbale but I've found this on the net. I see, the steering wheel is on the wrong side for my country

That area above the ash tray does look perfect and i have seen some installs lower than this. There seems to be an overhang with the controls above which might provide some shade fromt he sun which could help. Maybe you could include a mechanism to tilt your screen out at the bottom a bit which you can then clamp up when you have it right. You could alwasy remove the vents ahnd have some wierd set up at top that sticks out but that will probably be a bit ugly, obvious to scummy thieves and you will lose you vents.

Wait for a few responses from people who have there screens quite low down to see what they say about having them low. I am planning on having mine quite high up right below the vents on my 306 but this involves moving the fan controls and heater/fog lamp switches down .

Andy

PS steering wheel is on the BEST side!!!!

Well, I've seen someone removing vents but I think that is not my solution: I'm travelling enough to need all vents in summer and I don't want to modify too much the stock layout.
In my first post I was talking about adding a modelled box behind the vents: I can loose the clock (it's the only crappy component of this car) and I've a lot of space there, buy this mean building a VERY NICE fiberglass box, maybe my V2.

Egon

P.S. As for many things, the best is in the middle

Maybe a nice slide up screen like on some Volvos is the answer or a flip up screen. I quite like the slide up idea and there is a thread somewhere about doing a slide up screen, have a (he he, 1st time I used that), but it would probably be difficult if you put it far enough forward to reach properly. A flip may take up less space but look worse when it is closed and you would probably want to have it so the screen is face down or protected when closed to protect it from sunlight. Other than that i would make a mock up in real life and/or on photoshop to see if you want something mounted that high on your dash. Cool car btw. I have a got an idea with the screen flipping up (from face down) and sliding forward which could look very slick if you did it carefully with a nice back panel to the screen that would make it almost invisible when closed but as with most ideas a diagram would probably be worth a thousand words if you dont get my drift.

Andy

PS I would agree - Mclaren F1 - seat in the middle - the best!
