Hard wire the Lilliput DIN connector

My round DIN connector that connects the screen to the VGA/touchscreen cable is flakey. If I as much as touch it, the screen flickers and goes yellow etc. I was wondering if I can cut off these connectors and hardwire the wires inside? Will they be color coded and easy to match up? I'd like to know before I hack the wire so if anyone can help it'd be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have a new cable/connector that you could replace your bad one with. This way you can still detach the cable from the monitor. Email me if you're interested.

Well I figure hardwiring would still be more stable than a new connector, not to mention cheaper. Anyone else have any idea on what's inside this wire before I go ahead and hack it apart tonight?

I replaced mine witha serial DB9 extension cable I picked up at RadioShack.
I believe the brown/purple leads and the blue/orange wires are crossed. All the rest were the same color.

I just cut the cable in half and connect one half to the monitor and the other to the vga/usb cable. Works much better now.

The color wires will be the same in the main cable however they need to be connected differently. Since there were a few variation of the way these monitors are connected there are different ways to do it. Can you take a picture of the wires soldered to the VGA controller and touch screen controller and post here or email me. Based on that I will tell you how to connect the main cable.

A multimeter is your friend. Cut both sides of the connector off and plug them together. Then strip the wire ends off of both sides and use a meter to verify connectivity between the wires.

I have the same problem. I even got a new cable, but alas, I'm afraid that the problem is with the shorter end that's going to the monitor, and not the other. I'm probably looking at cutting and soldering myself...

In case anyone is wondering some wires WERE crossed on mine. I believe the blue wire and orange wire were crossed and the purple wire and brown wire were crossed. This is on MY Lilliput and I assume other Lilliputs will be different so I would not suggest anyone go by what I say. It is best if you do the multimeter test as described above (BTW, if you apply 12V to one end, you can test with a circuit tester if you don't have a multimeter).

Anyway, it worked out great and now the screen doesn't flicker at all. Only disadvantage is you can't disconnect the wire from the screen now (obviously) but that's no big deal to me...

God bless you Bobby Digital! I had the similar problem, cut mini din connector, soldered it ont to one colors, and it did not work, but then I found your post and crossed blue/orange and purple/brown and it works! Thanks!

Do me a favor when you hardwire it please post a pic of the connections. I want to hardwire my lilliput also since I have cut off the short piece and misplaced it

Last night, I hardwired mine. the blue on one side, goes to the orange on the other. And the brown on one side, goes to the purple on the other.

The picture seems to be more stable, and much clearer. BUT I still get massive flicker. I tracked it down to the little retarded egg. It was humming a long with the alternator!!! It still flickered even with the car off, which is really odd.

I brought the egg in the house, a long with the monitor... and hooked it to my house pc. I used a 12v power supply to power the egg. It didn't hum, nor did it flicker. Odd.

I think I'll try a higher input voltage in the egg, to see if it flakes out with higher than 12v...

just remove the egg and hook it up directly to your psu with a molex connector or something
