This one is all you need. It's SPST-NO (single pole, single throw - normally open). $2.05

The most common SPDT relay, at least in the car audio industry is just a little black cube that is about 1" x 1" x 1" sometimes with a little bracket attached or molded into it for a single screw, and on the bottom, there are five male spade type terminals on it... below is a picture of the bottom which shows the numbers as in the diagrams above...
I hope that sheds some light on what the numbers are and helps you put it together... This next picture is the same picture but someone has added a diagram of what is going on inside...
Anyway, I ordered my Cheese Box and should have it soon... WAY before my truck is even running! lol Damn I need to get that thing back on the road so I can resume carputer install...

That is a ground.
The fuses may or may not be necessary to protect the wiring. Whether or not you use them depends on your particular setup. It's enough of another subject that I'd suggest starting a new thread if you have questions about where to use them in your setup.
Here is where to connect your wires to the CheeseBox:

Thanks for the info on where to connect into the Cheese Box, which by the way showed up today... only took like 2-3 days to get mine from Baber.com... anyway, now all I need is a running car! lol

Actually, it was Ryuandwings that started it all (we continued on that subject thru email, until we had it figured out).
Ryuandwings is the one that deserves the thanks. Especially from me, because he was nice enough to give me a CheeseBox for free! Figuring out how to replace the switch with a relay (also a switch) was no big feat. The initial idea was all Ryu.
So, thanks again Ryuandwings.

Well, in that case... Thanks to BOTH of yous! I know I appreciate it... and I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only one. Now if I could just get this motor back into the VX, I could start working on my HUGE amount of fabrication that needs to be done for my carputer. Thanks eCar™ AND Ryuandwings!

Couldn't you do this with a USB webcam, USB relay, and a little programming?

I have used the but not found anything on mod'ing the Lilliput to use the RCA for a reverse camera and keeping the computer on the VGA. I know that the Cheesbox will work, but it is around $70, and *may* add some distortion on the VGA input to the Lilliput.
Has anybody found a way to do this on the lilly?

I got it hooked up this weekend just as eCar described - I unsoldered the switch off the board and ran a pair of wires out to a relay triggered by the backup lights - works great. The switch on the board is a double pole-double throw but you only need a single pole-single throw to trigger it. The Cheesebox needs a constant 12v to keep the vga passthrough active - I used the Opus +12v to supply it and the camera (a reverse camera off eBay), together they draw about 170 ma. There's about a 3 second delay when it shifts to the camera but the switch back to the vga is instantaneous.
Dave
So you connect the 12V to the Cheesebox? I got one of tehse, and the DC power supply it comes with specifies 9V input only.
Would it work to connect the + to my Opus's 12V and the - to my ATX 3.3V, or would that make something explode?
Also, in the diagram there's the SPDT at the bottom, then a blue box, then two squiggly fuses. What's the blue box between the fuses and the SPDT?

That's a SPDT relay at the bottom. You could also use a SPST-NO (normally open) relay, as it is the same thing without the unused #87a pin (that provides a NC output). I showed the SPDT because SPST-NO is not too common.
The other blue box (at the top) is a SPDT 3-position ON/OFF/ON switch (shown in the OFF pos). You use it to select the automatic mode (connected to the reverse lights), camera mode (connected to +12V), or VGA mode (switch is off).

Aksor, if that was directed at me, I am looking for something that will be on as soon as I start the truck. The reverse camera makes the most sense when backing out of the driveway or a parking spot - I don't want to wait the time for the CPU to boot and everything to load - it would be simpler to just push the button to change sources. If I have to go with the cheese box I will, but I know it is probably possible to do something similar with the lilliput since it has VGA and RCA inputs, but don't have the skillz to do it
