My lili does that too, but it only occurs like 1/2 of the time. the internal ROM has some prob? Would powering the lili with car battery instead of cigar lighter solve the problem?

Same here, I get that problem often as well.

If you power the lilly through a car battery, how do you turn it off? (I mean, completely)

I have a similar problem so I hooked it up to the 12 volts from the computer power supply. Are there any problems with that? It seems to be just as bright and functional as the ac wall plug.

That's how I have mine and I don't think there is a problem with this method at all (as long as the power is still going through the egg shaped adapter thing). It's probably the best way to do it anyhow, since it's a clean 12V and it's only supplied when the computer is on (ie. screen is only powered when you need it).

I'm actually bypassing the egged shaped thing. I assume it's just designed to keep around 12 volts from a car battery. A regulator? I'm not positive but it seems that when I hook it up the screen is dimmer, like the egg isn't doing that good of a job. I figure the 12 volts from the computer has got to be pretty solid power supply. It's hard to A\B from my house to car for brightness but when I hooked up the dc egg unit to a 12 volt battery in my house and then the wall, the egg unit is definately dimmer. Maybe the batter is funky, I don't know(It reads 12.5 volts with no load).

Maybe I'll try the egg thing hooked with the computer power supply and without.

yeah, but like most topics they shift to something else, hence the other posts only somewhat related.
