Need replacement connector for Lilliput
I have damaged the connector on the back of the LCD. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement. I just need the beige colored piece that pivots up and down to hold the ribbon cable in place.
Thanks!

The toothpick solution
What do you think of this solution?
I found that just gluing the broken piece didn't exert enough downward pressure on the cable. I tried 4 different glues: Loctite SuperGlue Gel being the best because it was thick and didn't run down into the connector and it sets within 30 seconds (because I couldn't find a good way to safely clamp it while the other glues set in 20-60 minutes).
However, in the end, a wooden toothpick worked perfectly and I didn't use any glue at all. The duck tape doesn't do anything, I just didn't want to remove it after finding something that works.

Hi
I've just fouind myself in a similar position so I'll give your method a try.
I also need a replacement ribbon cable - it's the same one that's shown in your pic, the one that goes from the back of the panel to a circuit board.
Any ideas where I could get hold of one?
Thanks
JB

This solution isn't perfect. Anyone know where I can get a replacement connector (see pictures in first post).
When I put any pressure on the right side of the plastic case, the screen goes blank or appears scrambled.
Replacement cables are available for $3 from www.digitalww.com

I have the same problem, but I can find source here(Taiwan). I'm planning to replace the beige cover with new one only. Otherwise, it's also not so difficult to replace whole connector.
Anyway, I just order this parts today. Once it's done, I'll see what I can have help to you guys.

Thanks dominiclu! Let us know how it works.
I am going to try ordering a couple of different connectors from www.digikey.com and see if any of them fit.

Digi-Key Part: HFR40CT-ND appears to be very similar. I've got it here and I will try in the Lilliput when I mount the screen in the car.
I've also orderd HFJ40CT-ND (close, may work) and WM5684CT-ND (definitely won't work).

Seems a lot of people have this problem. Any tips on avoiding breaking it? I'll be ordering a lilliput soon, and don't want to destroy it when I take it apart...

yea, he sold me two that were the wrong type, apparently there are two types, i think one style is on one side and the other is on one side and the other side on the other end. Its been almost 3 months since i bought my Lilliput from him with no more messages from him......HHmmff
When i separated my cases, the ribbon cable was only 3" long and that screwed my header up, and trying the toothpick fix, just screwed my cable, not that its a bad fix, but my cable was too short.
Sure wish i had a cable to fix this display, Armen?

Bambooracer - did you ever get the HFJ40CT to work? I've got a semi-busted connector (only one side will latch) and will probably have to replace it once the car jiggles it lose...
I sent an email to digitalWW also, trying to see if they had any of the connectors.
Does anyone know if the lead pitch on the cables? I'm guessing 0.5mm...

Nope. I ended up stuffing the cable into the connector and using glue with a toothpick to hold the cable down. The duck tape didn't help.
