Strange problem powering xenarc from 90w Opus :(

Ive just spent the last hour searching posts but not seen anything about this problem I have.
I have a Epia 10000m Mobo, 256 Ram, Laptop 40gig HD Laptop DVD Rom, Xenarc 7" USB touchscreen Monitor all powered from a 90W Opus. everything was working fine, I had the mobo set to standby mode and it works as it should with the Xenarc screen powered from the cig lighter.
I wanted to power the Xenarc from the Opus so I conneted it to the yellow and black wires on a 3.5" power lead coming from the Opus.
as soon as i did this the standby mode no longer works
it shuts down windows to standby mode but the opus does not go into standby mode it stays on a few mins then forces a full power off meaning the pc has to boot up again
if i unplug the Xenarc it all works again as it should.
anyone else had this problem?

Hi Brettster,

I have the exact same setup as you without problems. Are you sure you use the 12V wire? (yes, otherwise the Xenarc probably wouldn't run at all).
I any event I use the Opus with stand-by power off, that way it shuts off all power to the mobo and just uses very little power to 'listen' to the ACC line. This only works with hibernate or shut-down. There are two jumpers on the Opus to control this.

Kris from Opus said powering the Xenarc in this way would work, provided there is no excess of peripherals taking up power (USB stuff).

try to hibernate.

Hmm i think i would have the same problem using hibanation mode too. as the power supply seems to be detecting the monitor and its not cutting power to it.
I guess i'll just wire up the LCD to the car's ACC line.
But thanks for the help

I had this problem, however it was the touchkit drivers which was causing the problem.

To solve it, I put a relay on the ignition wire, which breaks the +12v coming from the Opus to the display. That means that when I turn off the ignition, the display goes off, and 10 seconds later, the PC will go to standby. When I turn the ignition on, the Xenarc will not turn itself on until the PC starts up again. I also have the Remote wire of my amps wired up to the +12v supply from the Opus, so that the amps do not come on until the PC is on, and go off before the PC turns itself off, therefore eliminating the startup/shutdown "thud" you would otherwise hear through the speakers.
