Anyone here using an ITPS to turn on Lilliput?

I currently have a jumper soldered across the power button of my lilliput. I have an external toggle switch wired in series to allow me to disable the always-on condition, I.E. if I want to ajust screen settings.

My idea is to use the power switch pulse leads from my ITPS as a way to automatically turn on and off the screen. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this? I dont feel like desoldering the switch and connecting wires just to find out it wont work.

Before someone mentions Cayote's auto-on hack, Yes I know about it. I took apart my screen and just was not comfortable with how small those pad connections are. Better safe than sorry.

Some day I plan to do this with my StarVision..

Basically, the power button momentarily closes the circuit underneath it to provide the power through to turn on the screen.

So what has to happen is there needs to be something else (relay from ignition or ITPS or OPUS?) which will momentarily send the signal to that circuit to make it "appear" closed for a sec to turn on the screen.

I think the momentary output from the ITPS is perfect for this. It provides a small burst of power for a second to turn on your computer. It could be wired to the circuit in the power switch of the LCD to do the same thing.

I'm too scared to try it, and I don't really have time to fiddle with it right now for a few weeks at least..

I don't know if it will work or fry the LCD, so try this at your own risk, but I don't see why not..

If someone does this, I suggest you voltmeter the circuit behind the power switch FIRST and see what voltage comes out when the button is pressed, then wire/solder that up to your ITPS or something and see if you can get it to work.

My only fear is that there will be some feedback voltage coming from the pc that could fry the screen or visa versa. That is why I was hoping someone else had tried this already. Anyone?

Yes I did this with a small reed relay on my old laptop system. I believe I had the relay coil wired to 5V, and the other side to the PIC output. The contacts of the relay switched the screen on/off, and it was isolated from the ITPS. Worked for me but I'm not an EE.
