LCD Screen Res

I started fooling around with the idea of putting a computer in my car recently.
I borrowed an lcd screen from a friend and hooked it up to a computer for testing purposes. I think it's a low-res screen because when i boot the computer, i can see the dos stuff, then the loading windows screen, but once it goes into windows i just get a white screen with grey lines.
My vid adapter only supports down to 800x600. Soes anyone know of a way to 'translate' down to lower resolution to make it work with this screen?

It's not your res it's your refresh rate.. Go into safe mode and lower the refresh rate down to 60 and slowly move it up till it craps out again.

I lowered it to 60 and it still craps out. Any other ideas?

Were you able to see anything when you booted in safe mode?

What LCD? What vid card? What OS?

hit up the bios - there is usually some sort of video setting there (in the EPIA bios it is CRT vs LCD). Or drag a monitor outside with long extension cord......we've all been there

Use powerstrip. It can get it down to 640*480(16bit). Will work...
