Dimensions of 10.4" touchscreen LCD? How about an 8" 4:3?

I'm considering going the whole 9yds and putting a 10.4" lcd in my dash, but am unsure as to whether or not I have the room.

I searched the forums to see if anyone had posted any dimensions other that the diagonal that I could use to see exactly what I'm working with here, but I came up empty handed. So... if anyone has a 10.4" touchscreen or just the measurements for one please let me know so I know whether or not I should persue this avenue.

I'm specifically looking for width and hight, but I won't refuse depth...
Also, feel free to add width with and withought the case if you know as I will probably be making a custom enclosure!

Go to The Dr-Berghaus site, use the flat panel configurator, and choose your panel.

click the details tab on any of the cable controller options, and on a lot of options there is a panel datasheet link ot a PDF. that shoudl give dimensions or an illustration.

So just grab yourself a sheet of paper (8.5x11.5) and cut 5 inches off the long way a nd u hav yourself a rough outline.....

it should be noted that silverGTs dimensions are for the actual viewable area. My screen is about 7.5" * 10". the electronics cause one side to be about an inch longer than the other.

Ok, difinitly can't fit the 10.4"! What about an 8" 4:3 screen? I might be able to sqeeze in something as big as 9x5.75", but I'd prefer 7.5x5.75" as I wouldn't have to demolish my dash as much.

OK, most 8.4" screens are going to be limited to 640x480, but some newer 9" and most newer 10.4" can do 800x600. My old Toshiba can only do 640x480 and it is fine for me, and as long as you are fine with 640x480 an 8" will do fine.

but if you are going to have to buy a new panel, and a controller, and make a custom dash cut, think about getting an 8" Lilliput. they aren't the best quality all the time, but as long as you are careful, they seem to work, and you get a bezel to hack about with and cut down to mould into your dash.

Must be less work than a full custom fab mustn't it.
