Lilliput causing engin noise

Hi all,

i finally installed me system over the w/e and have a little problem i need help on.

I've hard wired the cigret lighter to the back of the car connector, (snipped the connector and wired it directly to the back of my car lighter connection) i noticed that soon as i start the engine i get the engine noise, if i pull the power connection from the screen my noise geos away.

Any idea's on how i can reslove this.

Thanks

P.S, i dont really want to open the screen, i'm happy to use the supplied car power connection (the one with egg on it)

How do you have your carpc connected?

I assume the engine noise is coming from the speakers thru the audio out of your car pc?

Hi mate,

Its a laptop running on batteries ( not even used the inverter yet) the line out geos to a SoundLinx adaptor which replaces the trunk cd changer, (single jack to rca's) i have proved it comes from the screen, soon as i remove the power connector from the screen the noise goes away.

I have simply connected the egg cable to the back of the cig connector

No, I mean.. remove the monitor plug on your lilliput from your monitor jack on your notebook. Basically, just disconnect the lilliput from your notebook.

Keep your audio cable into the audio jack of your notebook.

If you still dont understand, I assume there are 2 wires connected to your notebook
1) The audio cable to your car speakers <- keep this connected
2) The monitor cable <- try disconnecting this to remove the noise

Keep the lilliput powered thru the cig connector.

If I read your config correctly, keeping everything connected and then you remove the monitor plug - it would also make the noise go away.

Yes, that's why I said "also". I am aware that you have not tested it yet.

Do that first, and then I'll explain to you why. (provided removing the monitor plug solves your problems - there could be other variables too not yet mentioned in this thread)
