powering Lilliput through head-unit power harness

Has anyone directly powered their Lilliput using their headunits's +12V power harness? I'm ditching my headunit, and would like to use the power line for my display (so it comes on only when the key is in the ACC mode, or the car is on). Is this power regulated at all? Or does it depend on the car?

I searched the forum but couldn't find any specific information.

It's not that different compare to powering from the cig lighter. NOT SAFE. You must use the "egg" or make your own regulated 12V.

Thanks... that's basically what I wanted to know...

I'll use the "egg" adapter, but still power it through the HU power adapter, then.

You just need to make sure the HU can supply enough power. It might be safer to use the HU power wires to drive a relay coil and feed your egg from the battery through the relay.
