PSone LCD using composite input...

I have a PSone (official Sony 5") that I plan to use in my Jeep with my laptop & GPS to map out and display the trails I go 4 wheeling on. It's an old Laptop that does not have a TV out, and the video card doesn't have the options necessary to do the VGA mod with powerstrip. So, my only option (afaik) is to use a scan converter to composite input (av plug) into the LCD.

Given what i have to work with, what options do I have to get the best picture possible to be able to see the maps on the screen?
What GPS nav software works best with a small (5") LCD screen hooked up via composite?

My whole system needs to be removeable since my Jeep is topless. I only want it in there when I go on a trek into the mountains.

Thanks for any ideas/input.

you don't even need to use a scan converter some lower end video cards have composite out that would be a better solution

I don't have the room in the Jeep to mount the whole laptop, so my plan was for it to stay in the center console (protected from the elements) while sending the image to a smaller more managable screen that I would rather have ruined than the whole laptop.
