TM-701L Regulator Replacement?

Hey guys! Been awhile, but I'm back and better than ever! I have a small problem that I hope some of you can help me sort out. I recently blew my 7" Panasonic screen. I took it to a nearby electronics place and found out it was a blown regulator and would cost me $95 in parts in labor to fix it. Regardless to say, I'd rather source the part myself and do the replacement.

I havn't had a chance yet to pop her open, but it wouldn't be the first time. I put in the current touch screen so I know my way around, but I just need some input from somebody who's done any regulator replacement on the controller boards of lcd screens. Even better if it's this one in particular. Also if anybody knows the actual part# and where I can get, thank you even more!

To help facilitate the process, I checked Armen's site and was going through the touch screen install pics and I found a good pic that showcases most of the components. Can somebody please circle the regulator component in the pic for me? At least give me a good starting point. Thanks.

I might be totally off, but I believe it might be one of the two black square IC's under the top-right hindge. The first one is ~1in down from the plastic hindge and has pins jutting out on the left. It's rather small. The other one is directly below it and is fairly larger and has 3 rather large pins coming out from the top. I've seen that IC in mobos before so I'm guessing that might be it? Don't hold me to it though...

Okay...come on guys. I purchased this from Armen and he won't answer emails so I dunno what to do. Does nobody here know what a regulator is? Out of the 70 or so views there's gotta be somebody who knows.

Speculative Guess

Well my speculative guess is the red circle, what is the part number on it???

Also, the green circles are possible, but more likely they are MOSFETS

One way to determine which package is a regulator is by taking the part numbers off of those packages.

Then, do a search on google for that parts description,

then, test the part to make sure the info you got was right,

then, if the part is bad, do a search for a supplier,

after 3 days to 2 weeks of waiting, replace the faulty part.

or.... pay someone $95 and be done with it.

I think i would do the latter...

Thanks guys for the responses. I took a slight leave since it was my bday today :P. Anywho, the update is that I took it in, but was told today that there's no way they can order the parts from the supplier and would ahve to replace the entire board which would cost $350! I don't believe it! Looks like I'm getting a new lcd screen it seems...

Happy Birthday Day!

I don't know how test these boards for individual components so I am not going be very helpful there. However if you can find out which component you need, I can get it for you. I have a lot of these boards that are bad for one reason or another but I am sure I can find a good component.

Also I can get you a brand new controller for $70 or a VGA controller.

Email me.
Armen
