just installed lilliput. got a question though.

EDIT: i just picked up a regulated power adapter from radioshack. it was DEFINITELY a power issue. works fine now.

--------------------------------------------------------

i just installed my lilliput, but a i have a couple questions...

first off, i hardwired it to the line for the cigarette lighter. i booted up the computer and everything works fine, but the screen is REALLY dim during the day. i put my face right up to it and shielded it from any light and it was still very dim. i messed around with the brightness settings on both my computer and the screen, but to no avail. the screen also flickers sometimes, usually when the computer is busy. i set the refresh rate to 75Hz and higher and that didn't work either. and secondly, i can't get a signal to either of the composite inputs. i know they work because i tested them in my apartment with a dvd player. in the car, it detects a signal for about 2 or 3 seconds, then loses it.

does this sound like a power issue? i searched around the forum a bit and came across someone who said that his screen was only getting 6v with the supplied cigarette adapter (with the egg) instead of 12 volts. do you think that an adjustable/regulated laptop car adapter will help solve the problem?

well, i went to radioshack to get other stuff and came across this adapter. it was about $30. i don't know the exact model number or anything, but it has selectable voltages from 4.5V to 12V and an amp rating of 2.5A. i couldn't open up the adapter, so i cut the tip off to get to the positive wire connection and for the negative, i just soldered wires to the existing external terminals. then i just set it to 12 volts and the lilliput was rocking. one thing i did notice though is that there was no fuse inside, but there's supposedly a circuit that will kill the connection if there is a current overload.
