Why won't my Xenarc 700TSV display 800x480/848x480

For some reason, whenever I change the display to either 800x480 or 848x480 at 60hz in power strip, my Xenarc picks up 640x480 and looks like crap. However, 800x600 at 60hz works fine. Any ideas?

I have this same problem. There is a FAQ that says you can fix it by using powerstrip to change the refresh rate in small increments like .1% until it picks up the correct resolution, however, I have been unable to get this to work either so I just run it in 800x600.

No kidding. So is this a defect in some units or does it apply to all Xenarcs? 800x600 is way to disproportioned for my tastes.

Unfortunately I can only get 852x480 (beside the standard resolutions)...

Many applications don't fit on the screen at 800x480. It's really not worth using unless you're watching movies. But you could probably solve that problem by setting up ffdshow to decode and compensate for the screen's ratio.

Technically 853x480 is the perfect resolution for viewing 16:9 movies. 848x480 is the darn close. 800x480... I'm not sure what that's used for.

800x480 is the native resolution of the Lilliput/Xenarc LCD panels.

If you've ever seen a desktop LCD, you will know that it is MUCH crisper at it's native resolution than at a non-native resolution, as when it's in it's native resolution, you are mapping pixels 1:1, but when it's non-native, you may be trying to display 1 pixel of the signal in 1.3 pixels on the display, which it can't, so it "blurs" them together, making the picture less clear.

Therefore, the perfect resolution to run on the Lilliput/Xenarc is 800x480, to get that 1:1 pixel mapping

The screens are actually 15:9, not 16:9, like "Widescreen" TVs etc are.

I'm aware that it's the native resolution. My point was that it's a very useless native resolution.

Any solutions to the original post? I have the exact same problem...I just bought a Radeon AIW 7500 VE and have the same problem as the original poster: xenarc picks up 640x480 and looks like SHIZ when I set the resolution in powerstrip to 800x480. HELP?!
