Brainstorm: Did you hook up the USB cable before putting in the driver? Alot of stuff (my MP3 player and the Extigy are the same) need to have the driver installed before plugging in the reboot (restart for best results first). After the driver is installed then the computer should be able to use the device. I would remove the driver through device manager, disconnect the TS, install driver, reboot, then plug in the TS.

I would also recommend what is stated here. Right click on My Computer and go into device manager under USB devices and check for a splat (Yellow exclamation point). If there is a splat, remove the device, uninstall the drivers and reboot. Reinstall the drivers and install the touchscreen USB adapter. If all is well it should work.
I have had USB devices shat my whole HDD because I installed it before installing the drivers.
