Fried PSONE with too much brightness? Help

Hi I'm on my second psone screen because my first one died. I thought I gave it the wrong polarity and thats what fried it but this lcd died the same way the old one died. I have my powerstrip set to increase the brightness and contrast. I turned up the brightness on the lcd a few days ago and it worked fine for a few days. I turned it on today and the lcd backlight doesn't even come on. It's still getting power, Is it possible to wear it out so fast with a high contrast / brightness ratio?
