Mounting Xenarc inside dash - But removable!
Hi All
I am trying to decide how to mount my Xenarc 7 inch screen into the dash of a car. I dont mind making the hole in the dash, but i dont want to use the xenarc faceplate and fabricate the screen into the car, because it voids warranty and i want to keep it if i sell the car later on. Basically, i was thinking of making the hole, and using the stand to secure the screen down in a vertical manner to the inside of the dash, but is there any other way i can do it?
if anyone has done this, or is thinking of doing the same, can you post here so we can combine thoughts/ideas?
Cheers all

At least show how the dash looks like so we can see what we have to work with.

I have a guy building a pan to fit my 7" lilliput into my dash out of acrylic; it will be molded to the curves of the screen, and will have mounts to bolt it to my stock radio mount points, and will be flush behind the dash so my existing radio bezel will just snap on over it.
we thought about using the stand that came with the screen, but it didnt quite work for my application; you have to make sure that the screen will be secure, as you will be applying pressure to it everytime you use it (thats what my prob was, the base I would have been attaching the stand to was too flexible)

gareva1: Yes i used the screen's faceplate, but I also bought a replacement housing. They are available if you look hard enough! Forgot who I ultimately bought it from, though; just ask vendors who sell them if they have any spare housings for sale... You can use a spare housing to fab into the dash and then keep the original housing for when you want to sell the LCD, etc...

I want a shroud type thing for the xenarc, but i need one in the UK, or available to the UK. I do not want to open the xenarc at all, so getting a spare case would not work as I would still have to open the xenarc up to change the casing over.
Idawg221 - Your link is fantastic, thanks. Exactly what i want/need, but i need it in the UK/europe.
If anyone knows of a supplier in the UK please let me know!
Cheers guys

For anyone worried about fabricating their xenarc housing into the dash and buying an "extra" housing for when they sell their screen:
why not just plan on selling the dash piece when you decide to get rid of the carputer or car? Certainly someone else with the same car would love to buy an already fabricated touchscreen/dash piece...

And certainly a lot of people want as close to standard as possible.
It is a solution i have thought of, but that is not my problem. I want to KEEP my warranty as long as possible, as I know these things can be temperamental.

I did exactly that...i think this what you're talking about. I bought a new bezel off another message board so that I have a spare. Then I put the shroud in the bezel so that I remove my screen anytime.
