Something interesting... Image burn-in?

Thought this was an interesting topic for discussion.

Just got my 7" Lilli from the MP3Car store. -Thanks

Works great... except when I'm resetting the resolution or restarting the computer and a signal is not being sent to the screen, I can see the DVD screen for "Jurassic Park" clear as day. Funny thing is, I've never played that movie on my computer as far as I can recall, and more to the point have never displayed it on my new lilli.

I presume that's the source MP3Car used to test for dead pixels etc.

I was of the understanding that LCD's didn't have any burn-in issues, so I did a little googling.

According to this article, it's rare, but Temporary Image Retention can occur. Thank God they claim it's reversible by more use and by displaying a black screen. I'll try this and see. The "Jurassic Park" image doesn't seem to be noticable when the computer is on, rather only when there's an otherwise blank screen.

Has anyone else run into this? Could it be some kind of backlight burn-in or something like that. (grasping at straws)

What do you guys think?

This is not burn in, "temporary image retention" or anything else you have mentioned.

By searching, you will have found that this is simply the test image that is in the LCD controller, and it is a common "problem" (i would say "thing" rather than "problem") with the Lilliputs

In other words, absolutely nothing to worry about. It is common for it to do it when there is no signal.

All I can say is search dude ! ! !

I have read on this board that it is caused by transistor memory not in the lcd itself, afaik this is the first one like this from the mp3car store, a while back it seemed as if there was a plague of these but yours is the first in a while ! ! my lilli is 100% with no funny pics and i love that screen

Someone in Belgium who know the people at gainward.com that these screens are re-cycled from a Japanese video game. I think there is a thread in here somewhere that even proved it. I hope that someone knows how to get rid of it... Good luck...

lol - i always been getting this too - is funny - annoying though when yer mates see it and wind ya up for being a jurassic park fan

lol I saw this to what a odd thing I thought but said oh well don't bother me my friend noticed it first and was picking on me for buyng a cheap display, I jsut replyed wheres your lcd in your car, huh?

I finally saw this screen too. I think I never saw it because I had Windows set to 60Hz. Not sure. Anyway, the way I got it to show up was by powering it and turning it on for a few seconds, then disconnecting the power while leaving the CCFL inverter powered. This makes the pixels all go clear while the light is on and you get a white screen. After a few seconds it fades to the burn-in image and then it just bleeds out like some memory on the LCD module is discharging.
